History of Buharkent

Buharkent is located in the narrowest part of the Menderes Valley. In 1211, in front of Antiokhea, west of Buharkent and near the town of Başaran, Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Gıyasettin Keyhüsrev I and Iznik Emperor Teodar Laskaris came face to face. With the treaty made at the end of the war, the city of Antioch and its east were left to the Turks. Thus, the Turks began to approach the Menderes Valley.
In the Battle of Kösedağ in 1243, the Anatolian Seljuk State suffered a great defeat against the Mongols. However, Turkish tribes began to flow into the Menderes Valley. The people of Buharkent are the Turkmen people of Buharkent, who are members of the Karahancılar tribe of the Üçoklar Bozdoğan tribe.
It remained under the auspices of the Ottoman Empire until the War of Independence. Historically, it turned from a municipality to a village and became a district in 1987 with the name Buharkent.
